Story

A patient arrived at the Gerson Therapy clinic in Mexico with several
serious problems. He was in his late 30s, married and had two children.

His father had been a Gerson patient several years earlier, suffering
from advanced pancreatic cancer as well as heart disease. He had been
treated previously with bypass surgery but, on the Gerson treatment,
recovered completely from his pancreatic cancer.

His son, the new patient, was grossly overweight. He had uncontrollable
diabetes with a blood sugar level above 250, which could not be
reduced with drugs. Aside from his morbid obesity, he was also suffering
from gout and was on daily medication to keep it under control. He
stated that, if he skipped his gout medication for only one day, he would
suffer a painful gout attack.

In such cases, it is often necessary for Gerson doctors to wean
patients off the medications they are using. This was done with his heart
drugs. However, despite warnings, the gout medication was stopped
"cold turkey." To his own great surprise, on the purely vegetarian Gerson
diet, he never had another attack!

Along with his salt-free vegetarian meals, he was also given platters of
"Gerson snacks" served in his room should he get hungry. These contained
cherry tomatoes, green pepper strips, carrot sticks, radishes and
green onions. He reported that, with the regular juices, he was never
hungry. He lost over 100 pounds in six weeks, felt great and was close to
normal at 210 pounds with his 6'3" height. His diabetes had also disappeared
without further medication.

Important note: As we have specifically noted with a number of other
patients, arthritic problems are often associated with kidney dysfunction.
It is important to understand that the kidneys are involved, among
other functions, in excreting the end products of (animal) protein digestion.
For that reason, with poor kidney function, those products are
not adequately excreted and cause a great deal of arthritic pain and
inflammation.
