Story

In January 1979, Jesus Lechuga, aged 66, returned from a business
trip to his home in Durango, Mexico with a severe cold. It
was followed by a persistent cough as well as hoarseness to the
point where he could barely speak.

He had recently retired from his position as general manager of
a truck and tractor dealership. For several months various physicians
and homeopaths in Mexico treated his condition. They all
assumed that their patient suffered from adult-onset asthma. But
since their various treatments proved ineffective, X-rays were
eventually taken: they revealed a 2-112-inch lung tumor. Senor
Lechuga had been regularly seen by Dr. Feinberg, an internist in
El Paso, Texas, who had kept annual records of the patient's
condition. In June 1979, this physician compared the previous and
present X-rays. Interestingly, in the prior year (1978) there had
been no evidence of a chest lesion.

A bronchioscopy by Dr. E.S. Crossett of the El Paso Hotel Dieu
hospital, was followed by a biopsy. The diagnosis was "Stage IIIB
undifferentiated carcinoma with metastases to the bronchial and
mediastinal areas." Senor Lechuga's condition was thus declared
inoperable, and he was given a prognosis of three to six months of
remaining life.

His daughter, Georgina Potter, who was obviously deeply
concerned, lived in Pennsylvania and searched out the best available
physician. Senor Lechuga, while undergoing radiation
therapy in Chester, Pennsylvania, experienced the concurrent side
effects of depression, loss of appetite, and difficulty in swallowing
due to the radiation burns. Nevertheless, the tumor's size had been ·
reduced by about 80 percent and much of his cough was relieved.
Less than a month later, however, the cancer came back, bringing
with it coughing spells and hoarseness worse than before.

Georgina found out about the promise of Gerson Therapy in
cancer cases that were considered hopeless. In October 1979
Senor Lechuga went to the Gerson Hospital in Mexico for treatment.
He stayed for about three weeks and returned home to
Durango to continue his therapy there. By December 1980, he felt
much better and slowly regained his normal, vigorous health. He
even returned to work for many years at his former dealership.

For 20 years Senor Jesus Lechuga Valdez enjoyed life in good
health. He passed away at age 86 in November 1999.
